How does Vehicle Tracking work?

Fleet Tracking works by using a combination of GPS (Global Positioning Satellites), mobile communications networks, digital mapping and telematics software.  Utilising the many satellites transmitting positional data back to earth to be picked up by GPS receivers.  By taking information from multiple satellites, the GPS receivers calculate the vehicle location to a distance of several feet then transfer this information through the mobile network back to our servers to be displayed on our software platform.

What are the benefits of GPS Tracking?

Real-time visibility of your vehicles, know exactly where they are, how they got there and how they're being driven. Understand when your vehicle arrived and left site, if it's been used out-with hours without approval and validate overtime claims.  With driver performance reporting, you can highlight and improve poor driving styles while protecting your drivers, your business reputation and the public.

How easy is it to use GPS tracking?

We strive to make our fleet tracking software user friendly and focused on getting you the information you need in the easiest possible way. When you join us we'll accompany you every step of the way with our user onboarding program and access to lots of training resources whenever you need them

We also have local support over the phone via email or face to face should you need it.

Yes, it’s feature rich and powerful software but it’s also designed to be quick and easy to use for anyone irrespective of their IT knowledge.

How long does a GPS unit take to install?

Installation is carried out by an experienced and fully qualified engineer. We do occasionally use accredited installation contractors.

Subject to your chosen solution level, a unit can be fitted in as little as 30 minutes

How much does it cost?

The cost of a system varies subject to fleet size, solution level, agreement term and selected accessories.  Vehicle Tracking software pricing starts from as little as £5.00 per vehicle per month while 4G Connected Dashcam software pricing starts from as little as £12.00.

How do I view my tracked vehicles?

You can access your platform live from any internet enabled device, if you have a connection you have visibility.  There are also several free Apps available from your store giving you the flexibility of managing your fleet from your pocket.

What mapping does your system use?

Fleetmotion comes with a variety of mapping sets including Google, street, traffic and hybrid.  This provides you the opportunity to set your platform exactly as you'd like it.

Which mobile network do your SIM cards use?

We use multi-network SIM cards which will automatically bounce onto the best available network irrespective of geographical location, ensuring best possible connection at all times.

What type of GPS hardware do you supply?

We have a hardware solution for any requirement.  From simple OBD plug, Plant & Machinery trackers to hardwired device with CANbus interface all the way through to MDVR with multiple cameras, if you have an asset we can track it.

Will Trackers reduce my insurance?

In our experience, although trackers can add a significant security element to the fleet, they don't tend to effect insurance premiums positively.  Most insurers would recommend specific S5 and S7 trackers for insurance purposes.  We can provide both options so please get in touch on https://www.oran-fleet.com/contact-us to discuss your requirement.

What is a 4G Connected Dashcam?

Connected 4G Dashcam offers GPS tracking as well as Forward and Driver facing cameras, all in one device. Recorded video footage is integrated with the location tracking data meaning you can view everything in one place, on-demand and anytime you need.

Whats the difference between SD and 4G Connected cameras?

SD Card cameras while excellent for the individual driver are not a great fit for a commercial fleet.  Issues around memory (on the SD card), capacity and overwriting footage along with the challenge of re-formatting the card can result in missing footage when needed most. Connected cameras provide immediate access to event footage and allow for the client to request footage of any event, even those not directly involving their own vehicle.

How does a Connected Dashcam work?

The dashcam works on the same principle as a standard Vehicle Tracking device.  After fitting, it collects all of the GPS positional data assigned to the vehicle, sending the information back to our servers to be displayed on your portal.  The additional camera technology sits alongside, recording all journey detail and capturing any (pre-defined) event which it then send to our servers to be displayed on the portal.  You can also request footage from the cameras for incidents not which haven't been set to automatically generate video evidence.  These requests can be made without the ignition being on on however the vehicle would need to have been active for the time period you choose to request.

Do the Dashcams record audio?

We set the Dashcams to be fitted without audio by default, however, subject to the customer requirement/preference, audio can be enabled at any time.  We do suggest that the drivers are fully aware of this as best practice.

Can I view the video live as it's happening?

Our standard settings exclude the ability to view live action through the dashcam.

How big is the internal memory on the dashcam?

We currently provide two Dashcam options, a single, road facing camera which comes with a 128GB SD back up memory as standard (this can be increased on request) or a dual, road and internal camera which comes with 256GB SD back up memory, this is the maximum capacity.

What happens if I exceed my data allowance on my Dashcam?

We fit standard 1GB SIM cards in each of our Dashcams (More than double the industry average) to help us manage data usage.  We employ a number of measures that allow us to pro-actively manage usage and eliminate any unwelcome overage.

Will Dashcams reduce my insurance?

There are a number of factors involved in this, your current premium, claims history and your policy provider.  In our experience though, Insurers do encourage businesses to engage in Dashcam technology and this can have a favourable outcome in the clients premium renewal.

How secure is my data?

We endeavour to do everything possible to ensure the safety and security of customer data, including regular audits from third party professionals.  All of our data infrastructure is hosted in centres certified to ISO20000 IT Service Management Excellence and ISO 27001 Security Systems standard

Should I tell my drivers they're being tracked?

The basic rule is that tracking any vehicle, at any time is legal so long as the person driving knows they're being tracked. This means that businesses are free to install vehicle trackers/connected dashcams onto their vehicles but must tell the drivers they're doing so.

What after-sales support can I expect following implementation?

All customers receive comprehensive online platform training after installation, training can also be provided in-person subject to requirement.  We also provide an on-line support portal with FAQ's and training materials, these are available 24/7.  During business hours, we also provide live chat, email and telephone support.
